Exterior

Alloy wheels

CX-7's exterior design is enhanced by the inclusion of stylish alloy wheels across the range. CX-7 Classic is fitted with 10-spoke 17-inch alloy wheels wearing 215/70 tyres. CX-7 Classic Sports and Diesel Sports move up an inch, the 18-inch alloy wheels feature a 10-spoke RX-8 rotary inspired design and 235/60 tyres. CX-7 Luxury Sports get bold 5-spoke 19-inch alloy wheels and high performance 235/55 tyres.

Craftsmanship

You want an SUV that stands out from the crowd. It's all in the detail. Every CX-7 is built with a high level of craftsmanship and attention paid to even the smallest detail. Panel gaps are kept to an absolute minimum while exterior finishes are second to none.

Front fascia

The lower front grille of the CX-7 features a large five-point design that is clearly Mazda and provides a larger opening area that contirbutes to superior cooling performance, specifically benefitting the Diesel Sports. Front fog lamp bezels create a strong visual flow and lend a fine sense of craftsmanship. A windscreen angled at 66 degrees is sleeker than many sports cars and gives CX-7 its unique sporty appearance.

Headlamps

Headlamps have bright halogen bulbs for excellent vision at night. They also feature an auto on/off function which ensures your lights always come on when needed, even when driving through tunnels or around dimly lit areas during the day.

Power sliding sun-roof

CX-7 Luxury Sports allows you to let a little sunshine and fresh air in with a power sliding and tilt sun-roof. It's a little luxury tlike this hat makes every trip that much more enjoyable.

Rear design

Broad shoulders and prominent wheel arches effectively communicates the CX-7's stability on road. Details in the rear lamps add flair, a sporty rear spoiler integrates a high mount stop lamp for improved safety and chrome exhaust extensions add a touch of class. When all is said and done, CX-7 sports a fine looking rear end.

Performance

2.2L intercooled turbo diesel engine

The Diesel Sports model brings guilt-free performance to the CX-7 range with a refined yet torquey 2.2 litre turbo diesel engine, impressive economy and clean emissions. 127kW of power and a generous 400Nm of torque ensure sporty performance while fuel economy of just 7.6 litres per 100km on the combined cycle and a Selective Catalyst Reduction (SCR) system for ultra clean emissions will make you feel good about it.

2.3L DISI turbocharged petrol engine

CX-7 Classic Sports and Luxury Sports deliver sports car like performance through a 2.3 litre direct injection turbocharged petrol engine. With 175kW of power and 350Nm of torque on tap you'll feel exhilirated every time you put your foot down. A combined fuel economy figure of 11.5 litres per 100km and Euro stage IV clean emissions are also something to smile about.

2.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine

Known for its efficiency and driveability, the proven 2.5 litre naturally aspirated 4 cylinder petrol engine in CX-7 Classic is characterised by strong torque at low to mid-range speeds and by superb balance and economy. The 2.5 litre engine uses just 9.4 litres of fuel for every 100km on the combined cycle.

Active Torque Split (ATS) AWD system

Both 2.3 litre DISI turbocharged petrol and 2.2L turbo diesel engines are matched to the Active Torque Split (ATS) all-wheel drive system ensuring the performance is delivered to the road. An onboard computer using real-time data on steering angle, yaw rate, lateral G force and engine status, determines road surface and driving conditions, distributing the optimal amount of torque to each wheel.

Suspension

Tuned to suit the power characteristics of each engine, the suspension system of the CX-7 employs MacPherson struts up front and multi-link at the rear. Both allow precise control of wheel orientation while maximising stability and ride comfort. So even when the vehicle body is uneven the tyres can maintain optional position to the ground ensuring a good grip on the road surface.

Transmissions

Both 5-speed (Classic) and 6-speed (Classic Sports and Luxury Sports) Activematic (auto) transmissions are superbly matched to their respective engine's performance characteristics and also assist to improve fuel economy. Both feature a psuedo-manual mode for control of upshifts and downshifts during spirited driving. The slick-shifting 6-speed manual (Diesel Sports) is a perfect match to the high torque of the diesel engine.

Interior

Audio System

Immerse yourself in your favourite driving tunes with CX-7's high quality audio system. All CX-7's come equipped with an auxiliary input for your MP3 player and an in-dash 6-disc CD player which is both MP3 and WMA compatible. CX-7 Diesel Sports and Luxury Sports provide wireless music streaming capability with Bluetooth® audio and deliver crisp, clean sounds through a premium Bose® 240 watt amplifier and 9 speakers.

Climate control air-conditioning

If there's one thing certain in life, it's that the weather is unpredictable. With the standard climate control air-conditioning system you're guaranteed to find the most comfortable temperature setting. All controls are easy-to-read and at your fingertips for quick and safe operation.

Cruise control

Don't be caught out. All CX-7's feature a simple to operate cruise control system with steering wheel mounted switches and the usual set, resume and cancel functionality. Vehicle speed is maintained smoothly and predictably.

Storage spaces

There's plenty of room for all you gear. CX-7's cargo area is a very handy 400 litres and is capable of swallowing larger items with rear seats that split 60/40 and fold almost flat. Front doors feature a door pocket and integrated bottle holder while both rear doors have a bottle holder. A large glovebox and centre console provide storage for CDs and other small items. Two cupholders in the front centre console and two in the rear seat armrest provide additional storage.

Satellite navigation and Bluetooth®

Finding your way is easy with satellite navigation available in CX-7 Diesel Sports and Luxury Sports. Incorporting a bright, full colour 4.1-inch LCD display with conveniently located steering wheel switches, the system is simple and intuitive to use. Directions are provided both graphically and verbally. All the usual navigation features are included with access to the latest maps, points of interest and route settings.

Seating

Sit back in comfort. CX-7 Classic and Classic Sports seats are trimmed in a high quality black cloth and feature height adjustment for the driver. For CX-7 Diesel Sports and Luxury Sports luxury comes standard with leather seats and 8-way power adjustment for the driver. A 3-position memory function for the driver is included in Luxury Sports which stores the settings of up to three individuals.

Safety

Airbags SRS

Front (driver and passenger), side (front) and full-length curtain (front and rear) airbags offer excellent passive safety protection for all occupants. Forming part of the CX-7's Supplementary Restraint System (SRS) the airbags combine with the latest seat belt safety technology to properly restrain occupants during a collision.

Braking system

Large disc brakes are equipped with all the latest braking technologies including ABS, Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Emergency Brake Assist (EBA). Optimal braking effort is applied to each wheel in response to driving conditions and vehicle load, ensuring CX-7 stops when needed.

Dynamic Stability Control (DSC)

CX-7 is equipped with one of the most advanced proven safety technologies. Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) combines with a Traction Control System (TCS) to prevent excessive understeer or oversteer by adjusting the braking force and torque delivered to individual wheels. It ensures you stick to your desired line in even the most severe conditions.

MAIDAS

Mazda's Advanced Impact Distribution and Absorption System (MAIDAS) is designed to maintain the integrity of the occupant cell in the event of a collision, thereby reducing the risk of serious injury. The body architecture features a 'Triple H' structure that disperses impact energy, a front and rear frame that maximise impact absoption and ultra strong beams that protect against side impacts.

Reversing camera

All CX-7's feature a 4.1-inch full colour LCD display connected to a reversing camera so parking and checking for obstacles while reversing is easy. Featuring a wide angle view for optimal rear vision, the camera is automatically activated when reverse gear is selected. Every SUV should have one!

Seat belts

CX-7's Supplementary Restraint System (SRS) combines seatbelts with airbags to effectively restrain and protect occupants. Front seat belts feature pretensioners and load-limiters designed to ensure the optimal level of restraint is applied to the occupants chest during a collision. All seat belts are 3-point lap-sash type with Emergency Locking Retractors (ELR) while rear outboard seats also feature Automatic Locking Retractors (ALR) for use when installing child seats.
