Design

The design of the new generation Mazda3 has been taken to a whole new level from both an exterior and interior perspective. The expressive exterior design features character lines that play with shadows and light to highlight the Mazda3's sporty and sophisticated nature. SP25

With a body kit comprising of rear spoiler, side skirts, sports grille and front and rear aero bumpers, Mazda3 SP25 exhibits the kind of styling that you would expect from a performance car. And with the added power and torque from the 2.5 litre DOHC engine, the SP25 offers everything you need for an even more spirited drive.

Sun-roof

A power-sliding and tilt glass sun-roof available as an option on SP25 models enables you to let the outside in. The choice of slide or tilt functions means that the way in which the roof is used can be matched to the weather conditions. Controlled by centrally located roof-switches, operation is simple for either driver or passenger.

Aerodynamics

A newly designed front grille and a body designed to improve air flow have combined to offer improved aerodynamic performance making the new generation Mazda3 one of the most aerodynamically efficient cars in its class. Engines

Both 2.0 & 2.5 litre DOHC engines are specifically tuned to deliver spirited performance. An abundance of power and torque available throughout the rev range ensures that an exhilarating drive is always on the cards. Both engines feature electronic drive-by-wire throttle control and Sequential Valve Timing (S-VT) for optimum driveability and improved fuel economy.

Fuel economy

Along with spirited Zoom-Zoom performance, the new generation Mazda3 also offers enhanced fuel economy. 2.0 litre variants deliver fuel economy of 7.9 litres per 100km (manual) and 8.2 litres per 100km (auto) while 2.5 litre variants deliver 8.6 litres per 100km (manual and auto).

Steering and handling

Mazda3's steering has always been highly regarded but now further enhancements in making the steering system more rigid ensures that steering feel is improved. Tuning to engine speed variation improves the level of control and means the car goes exactly where you want it to.

Suspension

The Mazda3 range is equipped with MacPherson strut front and multi-link rear suspension. Promising linear handling and excellent ride control, the Mazda3 delivers confidence-inspiring cornering, and smooths out the roughest of bumps.

Transmissions

All Mazda3 models feature either a 6-speed manual offering crisp shifting or a 5-speed Activematic with manual type shift control. The 5-speed Activematic on the SP25 is available with steering wheel paddle shift control that puts swift changes at your fingertips.

Air-conditioning

Air conditioning with enhanced heating and cooling performance ensures a comfortable driving environment regardless of the conditions. And with dual-zone climate control now on SP25, the driver and front passenger can individually set temperature to the ideal level.

Audio system

The crisp, clean sounds produced by the Mazda3 audio systems provide the perfect soundtrack to every trip. Featuring 6 speakers, MP3 / WMA compatible CD players and an auxiliary jack to connect your favourite MP3 player. SP25 Luxury enhances the aural experience even further with a premium Bose® 242 watt amplifier and 10 speakers (including subwoofer).

Bluetooth and cruise control

A multi-function steering wheel provides easy and convenient operation of audio, Bluetooth® and cruise control functions (model dependent) ensuring you can keep your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road. Bluetooth® functionality on Maxx Sport and SP25 models even extends to Bluetooth® wireless audio connectivity.

Finding your way has now become even easier with the new satellite navigation system on Mazda3 Maxx Sport and SP25. Displayed through a 4.1 inch colour LCD screen and controlled via the conveniently located steering wheel switches it is both simple and intuitive to use.

Safety

Active head restraints

The front seats feature active head restraints designed to minimise whiplash in the event of a rear impact. As impact forces push the occupant into the seat back, the head restraint is pushed forwards minimising the distance the head has to travel before meeting the head restraint. The risk of a neck injury is therefore dramatically reduced.

Airbags SRS

Front (driver and passenger), side (front) and curtain (front and rear) Suplementary Restraint System (SRS) airbags are available across the Mazda3 range. When combined with seatbelts featuring double pretensioners and load limiters, the risk of occupant injury in the event of an accident is significantly reduced.

Braking system

Key technologies such as an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) ensure that the braking performan ce of Mazda3 is class-leading.

Dynamic Stability Control (DSC)

Standard across the Mazda3 range, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) combines with a Traction Control System (TCS) to prevent excessive understeer or oversteer by adjusting the braking force and torque delivered to individual wheels. It ensures that you stick to you desired line in even the most severe conditions.

MAIDAS

The Mazda3's body architecture features a 'Triple H' structure that disperses frontal impact energy, a rear fram that maximises rear impact absorption and ultra strong cross members that protect against side impacts. The Mazda Advanced Impact Distribution and Absorption System (MAIDAS) maintains the integrity of the occupant cabin reducing the risk of serious injury.
