Transmission choice

With the choice of either a six-speed manual of five-speed Activematic* transmission, Mazda6 covers all the bases. Mazda6’s automatic transmission incorporates Active Adaptive Shift (AAS) to automatically select gears in accordance with the slope and twist of the road, as well as the driver’s intentions. *Not available in Mazda6 Diesel

Safety

Airbags

The Mazda6 range is equipped with six SRS airbags. Driver and front passenger, front side as well as curtain airbags provide peace of mind so that you can focus on the more important things... like enjoying the drive.

Anti-lock brakes

In the event of hard braking, the Mazda6 ABS braking system will stop you from going into a skid. This safety measure allows the driver of the vehicle to maintain steering control. In addition to ABS, the Electronic Brakeforce Distribution system (EBD) distributes the braking force between front and rear.

MAIDAS

The Mazda6 Triple H safety construction forms part of the Mazda Advanced impact Distribution and Absorption system (MAIDAS). The body architecture features a “Triple H’ structure that disperses frontal impact energy, a rear frame that maximises rear impact absorption and ultra strong cross members that protect against side impacts.

Front and rear parking sensors

Situated on both front and rear bumpers of the Touring, Luxury, Luxury Sports and Diesel Sports, the Mazda6 parking sensors will let you know how close you are to whatever is in front of, or behind you.

Intrusion-minimising brake pedal

The intrusion-minimising brake pedal in Mazda6 is designed to collapse away from the driver in the event of a collision. Greatly reducing the risk of leg injuries, the intrusion-minimising brake pedal is just one of the many features found in Mazda’s safety portfolio.

Dynamic Stability Control (DSC)

The entire Mazda6 range is fitted with Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and Traction Control System (TCS). Managed by a computer system that detects vehicle traction, alters power output and brakes individual wheels in accordance with where the driver wants the car to go, this is a vital safety feature.
