Alloy wheels

Adding to the sporty appearance of the MX-5, the 10-spoke 17-inch alloy wheels demonstrate the stylish and dynamic nature of this sports car. Available on the Roadster Coupe Sports, light weight 17-inch BBS alloy wheels make a truly sporting statement.

Hard-top coupe

The Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupe power retractable hard-top has smooth aerodynamic lines from bonnet to boot. This creates the appearance of a lower, more powerful, sportier vehicle. With the simple touch of a button, the fully closed hard-top coupe can open up in just 12 seconds.

Soft-top

Made from a lightweight cloth material, the MX-5’s soft-top roof is easy to open and close. Designed for easy operation while sitting inside the vehicle, it allows the MX-5 to go from a closed to open roof with one easy movement.

Performance

MZR 2.0 litre engine

The MX-5 is fitted with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder DOHC S-VT engine producing 118kW of power and 188Nm of torque. This lightweight sports car enjoys a torquey, responsive performance throughout the rev range. Allowing the driver to enjoy strong acceleration in every gear.

Steering

The MX-5 is known for its perfect handling balance. With power assisted, engine revolution sensing rack and pinion steering providing the perfect amount of feedback from the road, the MX-5 is light and responsive, stable and sure-footed. You’ll feel great confidence on long sweeping bends and short, sharp turns.

Suspension

To maintain road grip, control and stability in all driving condition, the MX-5 has independent double-wishbone front suspension with monotube shock absorbers. In the rear, it has multi-link (five-link) suspension with monotube shock absorbers. Providing the ultimate feedback, the MX-5 instills loads of Zoom-Zoom into every drive.

Transmission choice

Both Soft-top Touring and Roadster Coupe feature a close-ratio, six-speed manual transmission with a flick-of-the-wrist action for quick changes perfect for sporty driving. The Roadster Coupe is also available with a six-speed Activematic transmission.

Interior

6-CD Audio System

The six-disc CD-player with MP3 compatibility and auxiliary MP3 player input dock allows you to listen to al your favourite music whatever the format - on the road. Both models have a 200-Watt seven-speaker premium Bose® system

Air-conditioning

With four round heating and cooling vents situated across the front of the cockpit, the MX-5 will maintain cabin comfort in the height of summer and the dead of winter. To sustain comfort with the roof down, additional vents direct heated or cooled air onto occupant's lower body and feet.

Paddle Shift

Should the race car driver inside you demand to take control, a manual override mode and steering wheel mounted paddle shift controls are at hand with the optional six-speed Activematic transmission on the Roadster Coupe.

RECARO Seats

Developed exclusively for the MX-5, the RECARO seats with specially designed support pads, seat cushions and side bolsters will hold you firmly in place with exploring the sporty character of the MX-5. Available on the Roadster Coupe Sports.

Safety

Airbags

The MX-5 sports an impressive airbag system. With dual front airbags and dual side airbags that are designed to inflate in a high-impact collision, the MS-5 minimises the chance of body trauma for both driver and passenger.

Anti-lock brakes (ABS)

To ensure high levels of control and minimise braking distances the MX-5 has an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). Effective on all types of road conditions, this braking system instills greater confidence so you can explore the vehicle's Zoom-Zoom potential.

Dynamic Stability Control (DSC)

Greatly reducing the chance of the MX-5 skidding sideways when cornering, the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system activates braking on individual wheels to maximise control in potential under or oversteer situations. The system is also switchable on/off so you can practice advanced driving techniques in controlled environments.

Seatbelts

In the MX-5, each seatbelt has a pretensioner and variable load limiter. The pretensioner tightens the belt to restrain the user when a collision is detected. If the load applied to the belt is too high, the load limiter loosens the belt so that it restrains, but does not apply excessive pressure.
